Under the guidance of the Quality Manager, the Quality Specialist will:  1) Ensure that all new participants enrolled in MI Choice have accurate and complete case files and are receiving the appropriate and necessary level of MI Choice Services in accordance with MI Choice contract guidelines; 2) Verify documents and care plans to ensure internal policies and practices are followed and documented; 3) Complete internal audits of existing MI Choice charts, run quality reports, and be well versed in the MI Choice Contract and accreditation requirements, including one of more of the following tasks:
  • Complete new/re-enrollment audits per policy and procedure and MI Choice contract guidelines
  • Complete monthly audit summary based on new/re-enrollment audit findings and distribute
  • Review Authorization Service Guides for all MI Choice participants
  • Complete initial Plan of Care audits
  • Complete data mining activities as specified by QM and in accordance with the Office of Inspector General
  • Review all participants receiving PDN/Nursing, Liquid Nutrition, Home Delivered Meal services versus contract requirements, at least quarterly
  • Complete the minimum current number of monthly chart audits, utilizing the CQAR tool in the portal
  • Run quality reports and distribute
  • Review and analyze reports for trends, and discuss possible program improvements with QM
  • Run Quality Management Plan reports, analyze for trends & areas for improvement, and distribute
  • Enter applicable data to the Scorecard
  • Assist with State audits and accreditations:  Clinical Quality Assurance Review (CQAR), Administrative Quality Assurance Review (AQAR), National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA)
  • Assist with Quality Management Plan creation and monitoring (QMP)
  • Attend/Present at internal meetings; Quality State Meetings and Consumer Advisory Team meetings

Minimum requirements include:
  • Associates Degree in Nursing acceptable; Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or Social Work, Master’s preferred. Must have current State of MI License required in Social Work or Nursing.
  • 2-6* years of experience required with assessment of medical and psycho-social needs of older adults and adults with disabilities and skilled home care experience. (*years vary: MS + 1-2; BS 3-4; and Associates + 5-6 years).
  • Total experience must include: 1) knowledge of the MI Choice Waiver Contract; experience in case reviews, Authorization Service Guide completion and audits; quality assessment and feedback; etc.; AND 2) prior experience personally managing a caseload of persons with diverse needs, knowledge of community resources; AND 3) prior experience working with older adults and adults with disabilities.
  • Excellent communication, organization, interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong MS Office skills, including Word, Outlook and especially Excel.
