About the Company:

Smith Brothers Tool Company established in 1981 manufactures a variety of tool fabrication solutions for the Aerospace, Defense, and Automotive industries.  We are a premier machining, weld fabrication, and tooling shop that provides in-house design, engineering, building, and certification capabilities.  Design and tool fabrication includes assembly tools, lay-up tools, large and small checking tools, mill fixtures, and more. 
Some of our customers include Boeing, Bell Helicopter, GE Aviation, and Honda Aircraft Company.  We are looking for the right person to join our team!

Job Requirements & Duties:
  • Take customer tool order or supplied concepts and design it using CATIA V5.
  • Attend design kick-off meetings with Design Manager and Project Manager to review the design schedule timeline and specific project details.
  • Review the Statement of Work and verify that all information needed is available to complete design.  If the information is unavailable, then this person will be responsible for communicating it with the Design Manager and Project Manager.
  • Design to customer-specific intervals and standards and inform Design Manager when reaching the specified intervals for internal checks.  Notifies the Project Manager once the internal check has been completed and keeps PM informed of the progress of the project.
  • Attend all scheduled internal design review meetings; review the Statement of Work and tool model with manufacturing and quality teams.
  • Provide support to the shop floor.
  • Must be a team player.
  • Must have the ability to multi-task.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • 3-D modeling experience (CATIA V5) of assembly fixtures, machine fixtures, and bond & lay-up tools.
  • Ability to provide 2-D drawings.
  • 5 plus years experience with CAD
  • Experience in the Aerospace Industry a must.
